This 2000sq.ft. apartment, located in Repulse Bay, Hong Kong, offers a breathtaking panorama sea view. The design concept revolves around creating a neutral environment that seamlessly blends elements of both eastern and western aesthetics.
The living room, although comparatively narrow, appears more spacious due to the clever use of a mirror panel as a wall feature. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the rooms with natural light, enhancing the sense of openness and connection to the surrounding natural beauty.
The western influence is evident in the white marble columns, ceiling moldings, and wall panels with trim that adorn the entire house. The main color palette of warm grey and white provides a serene backdrop for the mix and match of furniture and lighting.
Antique chairs from the Ming Dynasty and contemporary sofas by Giorgetti create an intriguing juxtaposition in the living room. Classic style chandeliers by Baccarat, France, add a touch of elegance, while modern crystal pendants in the dining room provide a contemporary twist.
The design team at Anterior Design Limited paid meticulous attention to detail, incorporating elements that reflect the mix of cultures. Dragon-patterned area rugs and stools from Jean-Paul Gaultier by Roche Bobois, France, add a tasteful Oriental touch.
To maintain a timeless appeal, the design focuses on a limited color palette of grey, silver, white, black, and beige. The use of marble and fabric wallpaper creates a harmonious balance, ensuring the atmosphere remains sophisticated and luxurious.
Overcoming the challenges posed by the building's structural limitations, the layout was carefully designed to maximize functionality. The study room features a folding bed design, allowing it to transform into a guest room when needed.
Apartment Oceania is a testament to the power of blending different design styles and cultures. It is a harmonious fusion of Oriental and Western elements, creating a classy, luxurious, and sophisticated living space.
